Privacy Policy

Who we are

Splitly is a group expense-sharing service operated by Nhan Nguyen, an individual ("we", "us"). We are the controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@splitly.live.

Data we collect

Account data: your name, email address, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the account identifier those providers share with us. Content you enter: groups you create or join, expenses, amounts, notes, and receipt images you upload. Device data: push notification tokens, so we can deliver notifications you enable. Usage and technical data: basic logs such as IP address, browser or device type, and timestamps, used to operate and secure the service.

How we use your data

We use your data to provide and maintain the service: authenticating you, storing and displaying your groups and expenses, calculating balances and settlements, sending notifications you opt into, responding to support requests, and keeping the service secure. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

How we share data

With other members of a group you join, who can see the shared expenses, balances, and your display name within that group. With service providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations: Cloudflare R2 (receipt image storage), Google Firebase (push notifications), our email delivery provider (transactional email), and Google/Apple (sign-in). We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

International data transfers

Our service providers are located outside your country, primarily in the United States: Cloudflare R2 (receipt image storage), Google Firebase (push notifications), and Google/Apple (sign-in). By using Splitly, your personal data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. We require these providers by contract to process your data only to provide the service and to keep it confidential and secure.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing support@splitly.live. Some data may be retained where required to comply with legal obligations or to resolve disputes.

How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access to production systems, and secure handling of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data or account has been compromised, contact us at support@splitly.live.

Data breach notification

If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify affected users and, where required by law, the relevant supervisory authority (including the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan) without undue delay. Our notice will describe the nature of the breach and the steps we are taking in response.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, or to request disclosure, correction, deletion, or suspension of use of your data, email us at support@splitly.live with your name and registered email address. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of essential cookies only. A preferences cookie remembers your theme and language, and a session cookie keeps you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Splitly is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@splitly.live.
